My comment:

The projections put on car bodies to lessen wind resistance and improve handling at speed have been often called spoilers in English. Could these Klappen be spoilers? They act rather like flaps but cannot be moved (unlike flaps on an aeroplane). A suggestion.

My comment:

I would recommend "valves" rather than "flaps".
In this context this should be a kind of "air resistance valve"
