My comment:

Since we are dealing with academic life, I believe "mentoring" is more suitable than 'care' or 'support'.
I prefer "helper" to 'assistant', because 'assistant' sounds a little like 'of lower rank or status'.

My comment:

Den student support kann man noch unterteilen, z.B. in main and secondary support, ein Sekundant ist ein "second" (entspricht einem Assistenten), auch im Englischen.
