"Mace" und Pfefferspray sind chemisch gesehen nicht dasselbe, da sie unterschiedliche Arten von Lachgasen enthalten. Die Wirkung von "mace" basiert primär auf ω-Chloracetophenon (CN-Gas), die von Pfefferspray auf Oleoresin Capsicum (OC-Gas). Lt. Wikipedia ist CN-Gas giftiger und wirkt auch langsamer als OC-Gas, weshalb man heute weitgehend zum Einsatz von letzterem, also Pfefferspray, übergegangen ist. Wenn dein Text nicht rechtlich angehaucht ist (Hausordnung, Polizeibericht, etc.), dann würde ich hier trotzdem mit "Pfefferspray" übersetzen.
