My comment:

I think it can be used as a good compromise between conciseness and accuracy. If the text is intended for professionals, they will inevitably know what it is about; if not, then we lose a bit of accuracy, but to me the average reader will still understand that we're talking about reliable journals in which articles are proofread before publishing.
