David Farrer (a guest user) asked this question:

Language pair:

English > Hebrew

Subject:

Other

Level of diffculty:

Easy / medium

Word or term in question:

brother

Context:

I wish to have the word brothe

Keywords:

brother - family member

The answer of   See profile was rated best

àç (Akh)

My comment:

This is the simple form, just "a brother" -- as in the title of the member of an order. However, it is also the title of a male nurse. If it is meant to address the reader, roughly, "Hey, brother" or "O brother," than the form àçé (Akhi, "my brother") is very commonly used in contemporary Hebrew slang, and does not have the other connotation.
