En las proximidades de la caseta de los guardias

My comment:

'Caseta' can be used indistinctively as 'torrecilla' or 'garita' depending on the slang used in each country.

'Guardias' can also be used as 'sentinelas'. This last term comes from the verb 'sentir' meaning to listen or to hear, which was the guard's specific task.

My references:

The statement can be found in the Richard Madelin short story "Inside my Heart there is Another Heart".
"We shot them by the sentrybox, by the barrier pole we painted every week but never had to lift."

Caseta del guardia

My comment:

en colombia se usa más comúnmente caseta que garita. Depende para que país es la traducción
