My comment:

I think it just means weight-gain. This is affected by the "happiness" of the animal and at first thought the "Froh" was related to that. However web searches seem to indicate it means purely "weight-gain".

Frohwüchsigkeit: keine andere Rasse kennt so hohe Gewichtszunahmen ...
