My comment:

9 of 10 German readers would make perfect sense of 'top story' anyway, so why bother finding a German equivalent?
By using 'platzierte' you will even gain points for being up to date with 'Neue Deutsche Rechtschreibung' (it used to be 'plazierte').
Still, a whole sentence is the least that should be given!

'Top-Story' würde man m. W. nicht übersetzen, der Begriff ist gängig und im heutigen Journalismus nicht mehr wegzudenken ...

Alternativ:
Die Seite enthält ...
... eine hervorragend platzierte Top-Story
= 4 gute Möglichkeiten.
