My comment:

The word 'sovereign' as an adjective in Irish is 'ardcheannasach' but this doesn't lend itself to a song translation in this context. Not all Bible translations use 'sovereign' e.g. Amos 3:7 KJV 'the Lord God'; The mod. Irish translation, 'An Bíobla Naofa' (Má Nuad) uses there just 'An Tiarna'. 'The above answer just uses an ideomatic but not a literal translation of 'sovereign' God.
