Language pair:

French > English

Subject:

Medical

Level of diffculty:

Easy / medium

Word or term in question:

coupoles diaphragmatiques

Context:

Appareil digestif : Estomac, vésicule biliaire d'aspect normal.

Keywords:

[next lines]: anses intestinales d'aspect normal. Pas d'ascite ni d'image dense intra-abdominale. Coupoles diaphragmatiques bien suivies. /// Is this "diaphragm domes"?

vaults of the diaphragm

My comment:

The diaphragmatic autonomously innervated muscle between the thoracic and the abdominal cavities forms a convex vault above the liver. We can respire as the diaphragm contracts towards the abdomen, becoming an even smaller "parachute".

The asker's comment:

Thank you - I would not have come up with that, and I've already searched quite a bit.
