Geea (a guest user) asked this question:

Language pair:

French > English

Subject:

Medical

Level of diffculty:

Easy / medium

Word or term in question:

digitoclasie

Context:

Procédure : libération par digitoclasie et hydrodissection (Strykeflow)

Keywords:

Préhension de la vésicule à la pince de Jehan et mise sous tension de pédicule par refolement du bloc duodéno-pancréatique vers le bas et la droite. /// I take it this indicates using the fingers as part of the surgical procedure, but I don't know how to word this in English. Not in my medical dictionaries and very few Google hits. TIA.

The answer of Charles Ferguson  See profile was rated best

blunt dissection using the fingertips

My comment:

This is a sign of a good surgeon, that he/she can separate tissue planes simply by sliding the gloved fingertips back and forth along the natural lines of separation. Here the surgical field is the upper abdomen, not the hand.
