Angelika Inglis  See profile asked this question:

Language pair:

German > English

Subject:

Software / IT

Level of diffculty:

Easy / medium

Word or term in question:

Sperrtext

Context:

No real context given as I have to translate a list of terms for a software

Keywords:

The general context seems to be employee data, order picking data etc.

The answer of Rupert Kindermann  See profile was rated best

Lock, Lockout (text), block(ing text)

My comment:

Hello Angelika, personally I prefer simply LOCK - that term is somewhat "general" and frequently used in computing.

My references:

Probably the best link as to what a SPERRTEXT is - description of how a certain program works that uses Sperrtexte - plenty of examples when you search the PDF file for SPERRTEXT
