Barbara Cochran (a guest user) asked this question:

Language pair:

Spanish > English

Subject:

Sciences / Non-fiction books

Level of diffculty:

Easy / medium

Word or term in question:

palabra "rata"

Context:

Porque fuera de estos dos momentos repentinos (footnote), los habitantes de Barcelona...

Keywords:

...apenas nos damos cuenta de que las palomas están aquí...The footnote reads "viaje en moto, palabra "rata"...The protagonists are riding on a motorcycle, at which time th doves are whirling around them in a threatening kind of way, like in, teh author says, Alfred Hitchcock's movie "The Birds".

"rata" = "errata" = "typing mistake"

My comment:

I don't think I completely understand the question. Nevertheless, should it be of any help, I remind you that in the publishing world the word "rata" is jokingly used as short for "errata". I wonder if the author's footnote plays on words with this second (or third) meaning of the word.
