rosa (a guest user) asked this question:

Language pair:

English > French

Subject:

General

Level of diffculty:

Easy / medium

Word or term in question:

one's own chips

Context:

Is there anything sillier than four apples or pears on a moulded polystyrene bed, covered in a hard plastic shell, wrapped in polythene?
We can at least still buy fruit and veg loose, but hardly anyone makes their own chips.

The answer of Branwell  See profile was rated best

Nous pouvons au moins encore acheter des fruits et légumes en vrac, mais presque personne ne fait les chips/frites soi-même

My comment:

The American "chips" is "chips" in French, but the British "chips" is "frites" in French (French fries in American English)
