Probe in the sense of inquiry, not of a sensor, though I think the headings probably refer to what we would call tests.

It depends on the context. If an experiment is involved, perhaps probe is the best word. But if you are talking about the daily clinical round, then "tubes" would be the usual word: orogastric tube, nasogastric tube, feeding tube, etc.
