The term "Lasterhaftigkeit" ONLY refers to the behaviour or character of a person. There is no technical or engineering background this term could sensibly be used for.

The context of Tech/engineering makes me wonder if it's a typo for "Lastigkeit" - acc. to Ernst either "trim" or used for carrying capacity of ships >"burden"

The context theory sounds interesting, though I suspect the explanation for tech/engineering is rather that tech/engineering is the default subject area! On the same lines I had the wild idea that we may be dealing with some weird tech/engineering re-translation involving VICE, i.e. optionally Lasterhaftigkeit or Schraubstock. But on reflection, I think it's more sensible just to go to bed.
