I hesitated to offer my answer in the absence of any clue to what is actually referred to here (BRASE? BASE?).
As there is no help forthcoming from other members, Barbara, I offer my best guess.
I think this refers to some sort of spermicidal or similar application, in lieu of a condom, which some people think will offer protection with 'femmes de joie'.
That's the best I could do.
