Yes, you are right that they stand for micromoles per litre and millimoles per litre. As a diabetic I use the later everyday to measure my blood sugar levels. It is normal to leave them in their abbreviated form.

These are chemical units, and you are quite right in defining them. The context should be translated as : "Blood analyses - glycemia with fasting - 5.77 mmol/l // creatinine - serum - 84.2 µmol/l".
