Alex (a guest user) asked this question:

Language pair:

German > English

Subject:

Technical / Engineering

Level of diffculty:

Easy / medium

Word or term in question:

Eine tiefgrüne Eins

Context:

Press release subheading.

Keywords:

I don't have more context. It's a press release regarding an appraisal so I assume the "Eins" is referring to school grades, i.e. the company has done really well. My problem is the "tiefgrüne" part.

My comment:

Thanks for adding the comment - I would skip the "green" entirely in the translation and go for the concept you describe, i.e. "done really well" - maybe the English school grades help, i.e. "A" and "A+" - tiefgrün referring to "better than good"
