Enfin se sont rassemblés 15 participants, chacun en désaccord avec l'autre.

If you have to try to co-ordinate a very difficult situation, where people want to do very different things, you are herding cats.

I would not translate Herding cats and add the meaning into brackets

Un effort qui sera probablement inutile ou au moins très très difficile à accomplir.

"Herding cats"= English idiom: To perform an unpleasant task made difficult by uncooperative or unresponsive persons or other factors
