Possibly it means to see if a particular piece of software is suitable for the job it is required to do and to carry out any work on it that is required to make it fit in and function with other software or hardware equipment effectively.

The German expression might not be the best here, or maybe it's Austrian or Swiss German...usually Qualifizierung wouldn't be used in this context.
