My comment:

"greener pastures" implique que ce serait plus positif comparé à ce qu'elle a actuellement ; à mon sens ce n'est pas assez neutre et ajoute un sens qui n'existe pas dans le texte français.. car "s'envoler vers d'autres cieux" ne vent pas dire que ce sera mieux.. mais cela n'est que mon sentiment.....

In this case Charlotte thinks her Grandfather is afraid she is going to leave (abandon) him with the family Hotel/restaurant left to manage.
