En primer lugar, se dice alBero, no alvero.

En segundo lugar, lo que te quiere decir la frase es que su boca se transformó en albero de plazas de toro, que es la arenilla que se usa en esos lugares. Ahí tienes un problema cultural, pues en inglés no te lo van a entender. Yo pondría now turned into bullrings' earth o now with the whitish colour of a bullring's sand , y me evitaría problemas culturales, aunque tengas que sacrificar un poco ese matiz.
