Das Konzept qualitätsgeregelter Motoren lässt sich (zumindest bislang) nur bei Ottomotoren verwirklichen, nicht bei Dieselmotoren. Deshalb würde ich das "Gasoline" noch mit in den Begriff aufnehmen.

That's the idea, but I think that "qualität" here refers to the mixture control. Quality-controlled makes it sound like the engine quality is controlled, when in actuality, it's the mixture quality which is controlled.

Exactly Claude, it's the mixture quality that's controlled. In German, too, qualitätsgesteuert might be difficult to understand for people from outside the industry. But automotive engineeers or enthusiasts should know what's meant.
