"Spiegazioni che non spiegano", "valutazioni, valutare---valore"
Apart from conveying meaning (signifiés), the writer is playing with words (signifiants). I tried something of the sort in English.

My comment:

In this case the "valutazioni che non colgono il valore " are definitely moral evaluations that do not really capture the true value of important things , whereas the "spectacles of emotions" help you avoid these "false" evaluations without real depth.
