Barbara Cochran (a guest user) asked this question:

Language pair:

Spanish > English

Subject:

Other

Level of diffculty:

Easy / medium

Word or term in question:

saldría volando

Context:

¿Será el duelo? Todo me resulta muy difícil, estoy harta. Me encerré a escribir un libro,.

Keywords:

...que es lo único que me ata. Y ni siquiera todo el tiempo. Por el resto, saldría volando. No me gusta estar en México así. No me gusta estar así en mí. Estoy rara, muy rara. Tengo la sensación que ahora ya es sólo tristeza y que me siento mejor a medida que escribo de nuevo. Pero sigo ansiosa y muy confusa.

I'd leave in a flash/at the first opportunity/at the first chance I got

My comment:

"Volando" here means a.s.a.p - narrator is dying to leave the country because there's nothing keeping her there except the book she's writing and she doesn't like Mexico.

As for the rest, I´d take a hike. On the spot.

My comment:

It´s very colloquial an expression. The meaning is: "I´d leave EVERYTHING aside and run away immediately, no matter what".

Hope it helps. :o)

To leave quickly

My comment:

There are a lot of ways to phrase it, but essentially it means to leave quickly. I heard it a lot in Argentina.
