My comment:

côté, not côte,

partir chacun de leur côté is an idiom: to go one's own way.

Also, normally, it would be: je sais que depuis ils sont partis chacun de leur côté, your author is just being slightly less grammatical by inserting the second QUE.

I know that since then they each went their own way.
