My comment:
this comment means to clarify there was a big repect towards the mother´s private affairs.
They had been married two months ago, a thus Mom was not getting her widow´s pension anymore. I thought -to myself, or she would have killed me- what they would think of her when she went there (the bank or pension office) to ask if it really had to be like that, since she was very short on money and they were three at home.
