sounds like assembled dictionary definitions, not native at all! The general idea is correct, though. "It will therefore be important to touch bases/make sure everyone is on track/compare results ... the expression can be used in a lot of different ways and more context is needed to get the right interpretation.

We cannot use "touch bases" or "make sure everyone is one track" or even "compare results". It is less precise and more general than that. Normally, it is used in the context when a meeting is organized to assess the progress or status of a project.
