Barbara R. Cochran (a guest user) asked this question:

Language pair:

Italian > English

Subject:

General

Level of diffculty:

Easy / medium

Word or term in question:

a testimoniare la vicinanza...la maestosa

Context:

I'm drawing a blank about how the different elements in this sentence, the "nearness', "culture", and "canoe" are interrelated.

Thanks

to witness that near the Indian Ocean was the most advanced culture of the Indians living in these parts, and the majestic

My comment:

The experience that he was living, after all, seemed to prove him right: besides the fact that no one had discovered that passage further north or further south, to witness that near the Indian Ocean was the most advanced culture of the Indians living in these parts, and the majestic canoe which was encountered and certainly came from the land of the Great Khan

My references:

My try! Not obvious.
