Language pair:	English > Spanish
Subject:	Law / Certificates
Level of diffculty:	Difficult / demanding
Word or term in question:	city clerk
Context:	Marriage certificate. Some dictionaries (paperback or on-line) do offer possibilities. However, they sound way too odd in the River Plate region. I desperatly happen to need a term in Spanish frequent -or at least usual or understandable- in our variety of the language. Many of the dictionary options are absolutely misleading or completely unnatural. Thank you very much in advance for your co-operation.

Entiendo que "clerk" se refiere a la persona que atiende en alguna dependencia de gobierno, tienda departamental, etc. Ojalá te sea útil mi sugerencia. Saludos.

Con máscontexto podríamos quizás darte sugerencias más exactas, pero esto es lo bastante general. También podría ser el recepcionista de la municipalidad.

Muchas gracias, Margarita. No hay más contexto. Es un "marriage certificate" firmado por un "city clerk". Claro que luego a esa firma la certifica un "county clerk". Slds.
