Word or term in question:

the liability for any other encumbrance was imminent

My comment:

"Gravamen" is levy or lien, in general. However, "gravar con hipoteca" is ENCUMBER with a mortgage.

there was a latent liability for other liens

My comment:

Depending on the rest of the context: latent, imminent, overhanging, pending
También encumbrances para liens
Lialbilty may also be plural, depending on the context.
