My comment:

"Abteilung" could also be "division," "department," "center" etc. You really do need more context. But I would suggest "Laboratory Animals" for the name of a department or institution over "test animals," although both are correct translations for "Versuchstier"

My comment:

This would be one context where the experimant is carried out on the animal husbandry (raisin, breeding etc.) the other context which implicates a place for keeping animals used in lab experiments I would suggest "holding centre for laboratory experiment animals or "animal experiment stock holding / breeding centre or institute"
