Tub plants is sometimes used, however it is not a common terminology. Also you would say from your nursery not gardener. A gardener is the individual who takes care of your garden, But I go to the nursery to purchase my plants.

I don't know if they are talking about technological plants, or something horticultural, where cable plants are a type of carniverous plant perhaps. The text is not clear.

I am sorry to disagree, there are plants that can become invasive but carniverous or better carnivorous means fleischfressend(meat eaters) so that would certainly not be correct. Anyway, there is no such thing as cable plants but invasive plants. However, we are talking about Kübelpflanzen meaning plants that are in containers see container gardening : watch Marthe Stuart or the Home Channel or just read a lot about plants
