L'argot n'est pas facile à traduire s'il n'y a pas d'équivalent en argot français. Est-ce qu’il y en a un ?

About forty years ago you could have used the French word "terrible" to mean fantastic (or "fab" to be authentically sixties). This word has the advantage of using the same play on good/bad adjective. So: parlons de la cuisine terrible!

parler de "cuisine par excellence"
My comment:
In my opinion it's the contrary!!
A MEAN meal is a real fantastic one. So mean cuisine should be a delicious, extraordinary one...

That's right, "mean" in this case means "outstanding" (not necessariy "excellent"); American slang, usually goes with "lean and mean", which means "agressive" or "daring".

Absolutely right. "Mean" = great. (Cf "He makes a mean martini.") "Mean cuisine" is also a play on words from the original expression "lean cuisine."
