Any artist receiving this award is a sell-out/betrays his(her) tradition

Do we need to translate "artist"?

artist/artiste/actor

My comment:

If it's a sculptor or painter, it's "artist." It's "actor" or "artiste" if it has to do with "un artista de cine" or "de teatro." If it's a musician or singer, it's "artist" or "artiste." And then there are "intellectual artistes."

My references:

Harper Collins Unabridged Spanish English Dictionary; Larousse's Unabridged spanish/English Dictionary

"Distinción" might also be translated asa "honor" or, maybe more specifically, "award."

What exactly is the question?

My comment:

The obvious would be "artist", so I take it that we are missing something in this question?
