Gina W  See profile asked this question:

Language pair:

French > English

Subject:

Medical

Level of diffculty:

Easy / medium

Word or term in question:

aboutit au diagnostic

Context:

La patiente voit le Dr. [nom] qui, après examens cliniques et paraclinique,

Keywords:

...entreprend la chirurgie et aboutit au diagnostic. La patiente m'est alors référée pour la prise en charge thérapeutique /// I guess it's the whole sentence that I'm questioning - are they saying that the doctor has already performed the surgery BASED ON the diagnosis, or are they just saying that he performed the surgery and reached a diagnosis (which is a little confusing because why wouldn't the diagnosis be first?) So I guess I have the terminology but not how the surgery and diagnosis fit in within the sentence, when translating.

The answer of   See profile was rated best

reaches a diagnosis

My comment:

A diagnosis is reached, that's the verb that normally goes with it.

Merci:)
