Word or term in question:

Immunsystemgewebe

Context:

xx% des Immunsystemgewebes befindet sich im Darm

Keywords:

...the immune system network found in the intestine

My comment:

"Gewebe" is a term of art, often used to mean tissue or cells that combine to form a matrix or grouping that perform a common function, and through which cells can communicate. In your example, I believe they are speaking about red/white blood cell apparatus for fighting infection. This, in turn is further clarified by the function of a "geweb" in medical terminology -- <<Mit dem Aufbau von Geweben befasst sich die Histologie, bei krankhaften Veränderungen die Histopathologie.>> http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gewebe_(Biologie)
