way46 (a guest user) asked this question:

Language pair:

English > German

Subject:

Other

Level of diffculty:

Easy / medium

Word or term in question:

branded complacent over standards

Context:

Universities branded complacent over standards

The answer of Rupert Kindermann  See profile was rated best

Den Universitäten wurde Selbstgefälligkeit vorgeworfen

My comment:

Both earlier suggestions actually use correct words but the wording is not "German" - it reads awkward. Hope my suggestions is better - and anyone with a better idea may label mine "un-German" too :) - the word "standard" is simply NOT translated - it is "understood" (implied).
