extraction of fluid/fluid (that is) being drained out

My comment:

Otitis media with effusion (OME) is fluid in the middle ear space

Laser myringotomy is a newer alternative to ear tube surgery.

grommet in situ

My comment:

ENT doctors sometimes insert a short, narrow-bore tube (a grommet) through the tympanic membrane to drain fluid gathered in the middle ear, Mostly in kiddies. The condition being treated is otitis media. Does this fit your context?

grommet soon to be extruded

My comment:

Terms used for "drain" :
= grommet
= (ventilation) tube
= transtympanic ventilation tube

"En voie de" = about to...; soon to...

Context: The treatment of otitis media involves the surgical insertion of a tube which eventually falls out / comes out on its own (= is extruded) a few months later.
