Barbara Cochran (a guest user) asked this question:

Language pair:

French > English

Subject:

General

Level of diffculty:

Easy / medium

Word or term in question:

quelques vers incongrus et épars

Context:

La douleur de la Grèce était-elle definitive? Séféris, comme Etienne, marin errant sans espoir de retour avec pour tout baggage quelques vers incongrus et épars.

The answer of   See profile was rated best

with a smattering of incongruous/improper rhymes (to call his own)

My comment:

Smattering presents the advantage of translating both "pour tout bagage" and "épars" and thus simplifies the translation. As the character is a sailor I suppose some of the words are not suitable for innocent ears
