Ya no tenía casa propia, ya que debido a una herencia mal repartida ya no podía disfrutar de su hogar en su conjunto. I find the phrase confusing when I think of it in its literal sense, given what precedes it. Thanks.

My comment:

From the context I understand that due to an ill distributed estate, the house is no longer completely his, perhaps he now has to share it with others or it has been partitioned so that it no longer stands as one unit.
