Reporting

My comment:

Often one can not translate each word, The translation needs to be sinn gemass. Sorry am working from my new English laptop hence no letters with umlaut.
Often in New German vocab of English origin is mixed therefore doppelt gemoppelt. Berichtswesen correctly translated would be "the art of reporting" so I not knowing the complete text would write Documentation: Reporting, it's an action rather than explanatory of how to report.

My references:

Past employee from Axel Springer Finanzen -und Controlling while also translating etc.

PettitTrans, Your explanation seems the best to me, as I have seen this in English too: first the author uses the foreign word, then uses the autochthonous word, to make sure his readers will understand. Indeed, in English you have words of French origin ("foreign" thus) and of Germanic origin (which I here call "autochthonous") that are totally synonymous. In fact in French too, you have total synonyms that come, one from Latin and the other from ancient Greek, for example! So here it's just a REDUNDANCY which SHOULD BE TRANSLATED ONLY ONCE. Bravo! Congratulations!

Savita, "Reporting und Berichtswesen" is ALWAYS TRANSLATED ONLY ONCE as "reporting": 1) see the common translation at: http://legal.wordscope.com/f2712/none/legal/traduction/allemand/anglais/u/Reporting_und_Berichtswesen.htm and 2) the way it is ALWAYS TRANSLATED ONLY ONCE IN ALL ONLINE ALIGNED TRANSLATIONS: https://glosbe.com/de/en/Reporting%20und%20Berichtswesen -- https://www.linguee.com/english-german/search?source=auto&query=Reporting+und+Berichtswesen -- https://context.reverso.net/traduction/allemand-anglais/Reporting+und+Berichtswesen . CMD, I am now realizing that the first part of your answer was correct, but not the second part. From the way you answered, it was not clear whether what you entered in the Answer field was your translation of the source text, or, as I now realize, it was an hesitation between two answers (the second one being erroneous in my opinion: there is a comma in German between the two terms, to be translated as "documentation" and "reporting"). Moreover, it does not appear immediately from your references that "Berichstwesen" and "Reporting" are exactly the same thing, that they should be translated only once. And finally it does not appear immediately that you gave examples of reliable translations in which the two terms were translated only once, because you fail to extract the pertinent part of your references, and sometimes it then takes - or could take, which is discouraging - a very long time to find the point you are trying to make on an entire Web page... And finally I don't know if people are allowed to enter two very different answers in the Answer field (variations of the first answer, especially when context is lacking, yes, but otherwise...). To Savita: at https://debitoor.de/lexikon/berichtswesen it clearly says, at the very tope of the Web page: "***Das Berichtswesen, auch Reporting genannt***, ist das systematische Erstellen von Berichten, (...)". So why didn't you approve the first part of CMD's answer before colleagues spend time on this?... Thank you! ;-)

Ihre Äußerungen spiegeln einzig und allein IHRE Meinung wieder, die wie üblich in Ihrer Ausdrucksweise (egal wie, zu wem oder was auch immer) unbändig überheblich, oberlehrerhaft, besserwisserisch etc. ist – und dies dann auch noch in wenig sachdienlicher noch zielführender Verworrenheit!
