In mainland China, it's the correct sound of the Chinese word for Putonghua which is the major spoken language commonly used in mainland China. In Hong Kong SAR of China, the sound of the Chinese word should be SAN for Cantonese which is the spoken Chinese language commonly used in Hong Kong SAR, The sound should depend on the regions in China because the major spoken Chinese language varies with the regions. Otherwise, it will not be commonly understandable by the local people of the region.
