My comment:

As the girl did not want to leave her small sister behind, she left (or went along...)hanging from the small door...

Conpuerta does mean "lockgate" or "sluice gate", but in this case it just sounds too strange. However...those words just might be right depending on the situation.

The asker's comment:

I think the speaker must be using this to mean the tailgate of a truck - the little girl's sister was abducted in a truck. It's the only thing that makes sense...it is one of those situations where it is either a regional slang word or where the speaker can't think of the right word and is improvising! I think it really needs someone fromGuatemala to tell us for sure. Thanks to everybody for your help.
