Perdón otra vez. Esta es mi respuesta definitiva. Me despistó el "me le [...] a ella, pero es sólo porque hay redundancia y un error gramatical (me le >leísmo)

From the whole phrase, it seems better to use "look at", in the sense of, in a new place, they wouldn't stare at her because of what happened ..

I agree that it should be SE LE ...
