These people are like a cross between janitors/caretakers and dinnerladies. Where I worked, they did the teachers' photocopying, let you into rooms if you needed access, and had a measure of disciplinary power over the kids (to the extent that anyone did) as well as looking after the building. It depends how important it is that the reader know their exact role, or whether an aspect of it is being emphasised above others - hence my dual suggestion.
