the veranda of the corridor

My comment:

This word veranda (sometimes verandah) has a curious etymology. From what I have been able to gather by a quick search, it has a Portuguese/Indian origin.

My references:

"According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the word verandah originated in India where it is found in several native languages. However, it may have been an adaptation of the Portuguese or older Spanish varanda (baranda in modern Spanish) referring to a railing, balustrade or balcony."

From the Wikipedia entry for "veranda".

porch railing

My comment:

In the countries around the Caribbean, a "corredor" is the porch on the front of a house, usually enclosed with railing.

I get the impression that this is outdoors (tomar el sol), so I think "corridor" would be more appropriate.
