This is suggested if a less flowery and more clinical term is what will fit the context, though I like "that fill me with sadness".
Other options like dismay, distress etc may also be considered.

This is the most concise way of putting it, which is always what editors want (at least mine do).

Could be either, whichever you prefer. I prefer "fill me with sadness" personally.
