In my opinion, "melote" should not be translated because it is derived from the ancient Greek word "mèlon", which means ovine/sheep/goat.

I don't think this should be translated...it would be like translating "kilt" with "skirt"...as Mr. Mayer say it's an ancient religious robe made by lamb skin. My suggestion is to let the word as it is and attach a note to note with the extended explanation.
